All coordinates shared by on-train travelers via our "In Train?" mobile GPS client are immediately stripped of personal device identifiers. We do not link GPS streams to user profiles, names, or accounts. Telemetry is solely snapped onto static train routes to calculate transit delays for public safety.
1. General Overview & Scope
This Privacy Policy covers the RailRadar web application (railradar.in) and our native mobile applications designed for real-time crowd-sourced train tracking. RailRadar is an independent platform built, maintained, and operated separately from official transit organizations like Indian Railways, IRCTC, or NTES.
Our objective is to offer accurate, lag-free train status and train running status. Because we do not provide booking, ticketing, or reservation portals, we do not collect typical booking details like PNR numbers, financial credentials, or identity documents.
2. Location Permissions & GPS Telemetry
To provide pinpoint live train status, our mobile client utilizes your device's internal GPS sensor:
- Opt-In Sharing: Location permissions are requested only inside the mobile application when you manually engage the tracking engine. Sighted users can toggle GPS telemetry tracking off at any point.
- Background Tracking: Background tracking is utilized solely when tracking is active, so the app can compile station departure notifications while your device is tucked in your pocket.
- No Account Obligation: You can track and share telemetry anonymously without registering an account or providing email addresses.
3. Information We Collect Automatically
When accessing the railradar.in website, we collect standard structural metadata:
- Performance Metrics: Caching efficiency, response latency, and system performance benchmarks to support time-critical train enquiry feeds.
- Cookie Usage: We utilize lightweight local caching mechanisms and session cookies to memorize your light/dark system theme preferences and last searched train numbers. No advertising tracking scripts are implemented.
4. Data Protection & Deletion
We do not sell, rent, or distribute anonymized telemetry logs to third-party brokers. Since GPS records are stored without associated accounts, they are periodically cleared from our operational servers after 72 hours, ensuring long-term data security and privacy.
